Beyoncé opened the Oscars 2022 ceremony in true Queen Bey style on Sunday, March 27.

The night began with Beyoncé delivering a virtual performance of her hit single ‘Be Alive’ – which is nominated for Best Original Song from Will Smith’s King Richard film – from a tennis court in Los Angeles.

From the location and dress, to the performers, here are all the important details you might have from Beyoncé's 94th Academy Awards performance

The location

Beyoncé stood inside a tennis ball-coloured tennis court in Compton, which is believed to be the same place Venus and Serena Williams trained with their father Richard and a crucial film location in the Oscar-nominated film.

This is the second time this year Compton has undergone the spotlight. At the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime show in Los Angeles, the likes of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige performed on a set featuring landmarks from Dre, Lamar and Dogg's hometown of Compton.

The outfit

For her performance, Beyoncé dressed in a bright neon yellow mini dress by David Koma, with a feather-trimmed train and a diamond-encrusted garter bracelet. The star wore matching neon coloured gloves, diamond rings, and large circular drop earrings.

This isn't the first time Bey has taken to the mic at the Academy Awards show. In 2005, the singer performed songs including ‘Learn to Be Lonely’ from The Phantom of the Opera at the Oscars.

In 2007, the mother-of-three, Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose performed a medley from Dreamgirls, and in 2009 joined host Hugh Jackman in a montage to celebrate movie musicals.

However, the singer's performance marks her first in years following her last at the funeral of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi in February 2020.

The dance troop

Among the numerous dancers in the performance, fans spotted Beyoncé's eldest daughter Blue Ivy making an appearance.

The eight-year-old was seen dancing into camera before sitting with the dance troop and singing along to 'Be Alive', much to the Beyhive's joy.
