CONTROVERSY IN ZEST FOR ABRAMOVICH

Roman Abramovich is holding economic rights of players that don't belong to his club.

It is safe to say that Roman Abramovich instigated Chelsea’s success at all possible levels of football. Since he bought the London club in 2003, it has been a cumulation of praise and honor.

But just like another businessman, Roman doesn’t escape controversies. The thing ringed out when investigation proved he’s involved in third-party ownership.

The Russian’s involvement with the company ‘Leiston Holdings’ is placing scrutiny over his transfer dealings. That also includes the combination of £230 million spent this summer window.

The controversial transfer of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez to West Ham in 2008 involved third party ownership. Premier League has banned such things to occur in the future. So, Abramovic is in a problem.

STATEMENT MADE IN RESPONSE

Abramovich- Statement made in response

Abramovic’s spokesperson said, “BBC Panorama have not presented us with any allegations of wrongdoing and confirmed that they do not suggest that Mr. Abramovich has acted in an unlawful way.”

“In regard to the claim that at some point a Suspicious Activity Report was filed relating to Mr. Abramovich, we have no way of confirming whether this is accurate, as such reports are confidential, and the BBC has declined to present us with any documents.”

“In regard to transactions concerning Chelsea FC, the points presented to us by BBC Panorama regarding third-party ownership relate to the period before FIFA changed their rules (2015).”

“The fact that transactions may have been confidential, does not mean that they were unlawful or otherwise in breach of then-applicable rules or regulations,”

It is hopeful that Abramovic will escape any serious punishments but it’s unclear at the same time. Chelsea hasn’t made a statement on this. Chelsea has made a big investment this summer. Any punishment finally might cause an issue in the rebuilding process. Chelsea might fall in the position of selling players other than a penalty.
