Emma Raducanu request made after Serena Williams suffers humbling defeat in Cincinnati

Greg Rusedski wants to see Emma Raducanu stick with coach Dmitry Tursunov for a "long period of time" after seeing plenty of improvements in the Brit's game during the her dominant win over Serena Williams. Raducanu announced last month that she had started working with former top-20 player Tursunov in the build-up to the US Open.

He joined Raducanu at the Citi Open but was unable to team up with the teenager at the Canadian Open. The pair have linked back up this week at the Cincinnati Masters with Raducanu confirming the partnership is still on a trial basis.

The 19-year-old stated earlier this week that she wanted to see "how we work with each other, how we complement each other". He's the latest in a long line of coaches Raducanu has trialled in her short time on the WTA Tour.

She has struggled since winning the US Open to build up momentum having only reached the quarter-final of an event twice this year. But Raducanu looked in dominant form as she thrashed tennis icon Williams 6-4, 6-0 at Cincinnati on Tuesday evening.

Rusedski believes that was evidence that the partnership between Raducanu and Tursunov is working well. And the former British No 1 wants to see his compatriot now work with the Russian coach for even longer than the trial period.

"I've seen some improvements in her game actually," Rusedski said on Amazon Prime. "I really like the serve out wide on the deuce side to Serena's forehand.

"I thought her tactics were good, standing a little further back on the return of serve to buy herself some more time. I think there was a lot of positives there and she's hired Dmitry Tursunov on a two-week trial.

"I've seen areas of her game which seem to be a little bit better. I just hope they stay together for a long period of time.

"It's about consistency for Emma and if she gets the consistency, she will get back to where she was really threatening at tournaments and at Slams."
