The 30-year-old was hit with some heavy blows in the final 12th round leading to him falling through the ropes in the frightening closing exchanges of the WBA featherweight bout in Nottingham.

Conlan received immediate medical attention at the side of the ring and was later rushed to hospital after being taken away on a stretcher.

The horrific scenes somewhat overshadowed an excellent fight between himself and Wood, putting celebrations for the latter at a bare minimum.

Serval hours after the incident, Conlan took to social media and videoed himself in the early hours of the morning to let his fans know that all the checks had been cleared, while also congratulating his opponent.

“I’m all good just getting checked up in the hospital. The CT scan was all clear

“Congrats to Leigh Wood, congrats to his team, that was the best shot of the night he got me with at the end.

“But it is what it is. I’ll be back.”

The Irish fighter appeared to be ahead on all three judges’ scorecards going into the final round, having already had Wood on the canvas previously in the fight, and therefore is keen to get a rematch sorted.

It will be interesting to see how Conlan bounces back from the first loss of his professional career, however this horrific experience doesn’t looked to have fazed him.

“Definitely want a rematch lol,” he said on Twitter.

“Watched the fight back. I definitely need to run it back!

“Up on the cards & 11th was a slip, fatigue was kicking in & I was caught on the temple with a good shot I didn’t see.

“Respect to Leigh Wood congrats again, your (sic) a tough f***er – but let’s run it back.”

The boxing world hopes to see Conlan recover as quickly as possible and get back into the ring to perhaps face off against Wood again following their intriguing spectacle last night.
