Will Smith branded 'hypocrite' as resurfaced video shows him mocking man's hair loss

Will Smith has been branded "hypocritical" after a resurfaced video showed him mocking a man for being bald.

The 53 year old actor left the world in shock as he slapped host Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars on Sunday after he made a joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett-Smith's hair.

However, more than two decades earlier, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor made a similar joke about bassist John Williams while appearing on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1991.

In a throwback clip that is now going viral on social media, Will can be heard looking at John and saying: "Like, he has a rule, the bass player? He's got a rule: He's gotta wax his head every day. That's a rule."

The audience can be heard awkwardly laughing while Will adds: "Ah, these are jokes, come on."

The Twitter account that uploaded the clip first added the caption: "He gotta wax his head every morning." Now this is a video of Will Smith saying a joke about someone with Alopecia.

"One reason I love the internet, it never forgets."

Despite the tweet claiming that John suffers from the hair loss condition Alopecia, it is unclear whether this is the case.

However, Twitter users were quick to comment on the video, with one person writing:" 'See hypocrisy at his best."

Another added: "This is actually worse than the G.I Jane joke IMO."

A third wrote: "He was fine joking about someone else.. but could not handle it when the joke came about his family.... That too the joke was not bad......"

Others stood up for Will, with one person writing: "You're saying that nobody has the right to become a better person? All mistakes that you did when you were younger define who you are today? You didn't learn anything from your past?"

Someone else added: "So you're really comparing 20 something year old Will to a 50 plus years old Chris Rock? There are things that I thought were okay to say when I was young and naive, I Know better now, Chris should've known better."

Meanwhile, Chris has declined to file a police report after Will slapped him on live TV at the Oscars on Sunday night.

The comedian's joke was a reference to the 1997 movie G.I Jane, which starred Demi Moore sporting a buzzcut similar to Jada's.

Jada has previously spoken about her decision to shave her head after suffering from alopecia.

Since the shocking incident, Will Smith has issued an apology where he insisted that "violence was poisonous".
