Meghan Markle’s friend Priyanka Chopra caught ‘ignoring’ William and Kate in viral Wimbledon clip

Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been accused of snubbing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they were applauded into the Royal Box at Wimbledon.

A clip of the royals’ entrance at the Women’s Singles Final on Saturday has gone viral on social media after viewers spotted the actress and wife of pop star Nick Jonas failing to clap along with the rest of the crowd.

The video shows Chopra, 38, looking away to rearrange her scarf, before turning towards a friend as the couple walk past.

A number of commentators have suggested she deliberately ignored William and Kate owing to her loyalty to long-time friend Meghan Markle.

The pair have been friends since January 2016, when they met at an ELLE Women in Television dinner.

A source previously told E! News that the duchess had confided in Priyanka about the “adjustments” she’d had to make to royal life.

The Duchess of Sussex famously accused the monarchy of failing to support her during struggles with mental illness, and accused her sister-in-law of “hurting her feelings” ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry, in her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March.

Harry, meanwhile, offered a blunt assessment of his relationship with his older brother saying that despite loving him “to bits”, they were “on different paths”.

It is, of course, possible that Chopra simply wasn’t aware of the etiquette in the Royal Box, and wasn’t making a conscious decision to turn her nose up at the couple.

But sceptics had their own theory about her behaviour.

Chopra has been a vocal champion of her LA-based friend since their friendship first blossomed.

When the Duchess, 39, was named one of Time’s ‘Most Influential People of 2018’, she wrote a piece detailing her special qualities.

In the article, she predicted that Meghan would be a “princess for the people”, hailing her as a “relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place”.

The former Miss World was a guest at the Sussex’s wedding in May the same year.

However, Meghan didn’t attend her wedding to Jonas just months later, and Chopra was absent from the duchess’s baby shower, sparking rumours of a feud. But the Bollywood actress laughed off these claims insisting it was simply “not true”.

She may, however, have just started a real feud with fans of William and Kate...
