Van Dijk and Mane named in the top 10 players in the world
Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane have both made the top 10 in Goal‘s list of the 50 best players in the world in 2020.
The Liverpool superstars both played starring roles in the Reds’ legendary Premier League title win, outlining their credentials.
Van Dijk cemented his status as the world’s top centre-back with a sensational spell of form, while Mane’s attacking brilliance helped Jurgen Klopp’s men get over the finish line so often, with 18 goals and seven assists to his name in the league.

In the new list, Van Dijk (seventh) is the highest-ranked Liverpool player, with Mane (10th) next in the reckoning.
Meanwhile, new Reds signing Thiago is in 12th place, Trent Alexander-Arnold is an impressive 14th and Mohamed Salah is 18th.

This sums up what an incredible team Liverpool have become under Klopp, considering five players are in the top 20, albeit with Thiago spending much of the year at Bayern Munich.
Van Dijk possibly deserved to be higher, considering the remarkable consistency he was playing with before injury likely ruled him out for the rest of this season.
Mane has become an incredible footballer, too, with arguably no left-sided player in the world more devastating currently.
The Senegalese may not be quite as world-renowned as someone like Neymar – I don’t think he merited fifth place in the list – but he delivers more consistently in the big games.
