Cher, 75, struggles in her high heels as she steps out for cocktails

Cher proudly showcased her ageless physique as she stepped out for cocktails with her friends in Italy on Saturday night. 

The music icon, 75, beamed as she was seated at i Gemelli restaurant in Portofino surrounded by drinks before struggling to stand in her towering heels.  

The Believe hitmaker's friends attempted to steady her as she bent down to remove the troublesome shoes after donning a pair of skintight leggings for the evening.

She otherwise put on a chic display in skintight black leggings and a matching bomber jacket with white piping. 

She wore her signature long black tresses loose in a middle parting and combed her fingers through the length while she carried her shoes in the other hand.  

Cher bravely strolled through the Portofino streets with her friend barefoot to avoid any further stumbles. 

Regardless of the wardrobe malfunction the singer had enjoyed a fun evening out sipping on cocktails on her Italian getaway.  

Cher looked content as she sipped on a drink while surrounded by her friends. 

The singer looked youthful in a full face of glamorous makeup as she laughed and chatted at the table.  

She remained upbeat throughout the evening as she made time for fans who greeted her in the Italian town

Cher happily chatted to onlookers who stopped her to say hello as she left the meal. 

Before heading home the hitmaker had enjoyed a selection of colourful cocktails including a strawberry daiquiri. 

But the 75-year-old hadn't had enough sugar yet and took the chance to stop off for some Italian gelato.   

Cher looked to be enjoying the treat as she gazed at her cone while taking a lick with a rose from an adoring fan in her other hand. 

The singer beamed as onlookers watched her eat her pudding in the traditional Italian ice cream shop. 

She had caused a frisson as she walked through outdoor tables of people and turned heads in the small Italian town. 

After desert was done, the pop star looked ready for bed as she walked shoe-in-hand back to her yacht that waited in the harbour 

The outing comes after Cher revealed last month that she is interested in casting a newcomer to portray her in Universal's upcoming biopic about her meteoric rise to superstardom.

While speaking about the casting, the singer revealed she is excited about the opportunity to find someone unknown to serve as the film's leading lady. 

'We were talking about it yesterday, and we're just trying to think of [actors],' she told Variety. 'I said, 'I don't think we know her yet.' 

'I know the people so I’m sure they’ll…listen to things I have to say. But it doesn’t mean I’m going to get the final cut,' Cher said of not wanting an established actress to bring her life to the screen.
