Two Emmys hosts miss pre-show after testing positive for Covid-19

Presenters Giuliana Rancic and Vivica A.Fox both had a very different Sunday Emmys show than expected.

Rancic explained via video call that she was forced to miss hosting the red carpet coverage at the last minute after testing positive for coronavirus.

“As I go into my 20th year on the E! red carpet I have to say I do not take missing an award show lightly, but unfortunately this year is just so different," she said.

Rancic went on to say that due to E! and NBCUniversal's strict testing guidelines, she took a test and unexpectedly had a positive result.

"Now as much as I didn't want to hear that, I'm very thankful I heard it before I travelled and possibly could have exposed other people," said Rancic, who revealed that her husband and son also tested positive for the virus.

"I'm wishing you all the best and please protect yourself and protect those around you. Take good care and I'll see you on the next red carpet," she told viewers.

Later on, it was revealed that actress Vivica A. Fox also missed the pre-show due to testing positive for coronavirus.

"During these unprecedented times, it's more important than ever that we follow all safety and health rules and guidelines to protect ourselves and each other," Fox said in a statement read out during the pre-show.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, E! style correspondent Brad Goreski, E! News’ The Rundown host Erin Lim, Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, and Nightly Pop co-host Nina Parker hosted in their absence.
